Chief Purpose of this position:
The Department of Teaching and Learning has an emphasis on urban education and commitment to advancing access, equity, and quality education for learners from historically marginalized and underrepresented minority populations living in poverty and/or the educators that serve them. The Assistant Professor for teaching and learning with adult learners also recognizes the need for diversity, equity, equality, and inclusion for all learners in the workplace setting, and will be dedicated to this pursuit. The incumbent in this position will value diversity within their courses, and seek to be inclusive of all students.
This term Assistant Professor, Human Resources & Organizational Development, in the Department of Teaching and Learning will teach courses in the B. A. in Human and Organizational Development program and graduate courses in the M.Ed in Adult Learning and its concentrations, particularly those in Human Resource Development. These programs are in support of those students who aspire to work with adult learners in a variety of workplace settings.
Position Responsibilities:
1. Teaching
The Assistant Professor will be responsible for teaching courses, either graduate or undergraduate, as well as advising masters or PhD level students. The courses will be in Human Resource Development, Organizational Development, and/or Instructional Design. 80% of time is allocated to teaching.
2. Research This term faculty position does not require research productivity due to its instructional focus.
3. Service
The Assistant Professor is expected to serve on department, school, and University wide committees. Service to national or international associations is also valued. This is determined to be 20% of time allocated.
