Job Description


Responsible to maintain a clean and odor free atmosphere at Good Shepherd in all public areas and resident accommodations. Must perform laundry duties. May also perform housekeeping and floor care duties to ensure high standards of sanitation, check supplies and inventory, and inspect and coordinate cleaning of vacated rooms.


  • Performs laundry Duties.
    • Delivers soiled linens to laundry; sorts, washes, dries, folds and returns clean linens to linen closets and resident rooms.
    • Cleans laundry room and the sorting/soiled linen tubs.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean atmosphere throughout the Good Shepherd Community.
    • Cleans and makes resident beds.
    • Cleans resident rooms and apartments, including bathroom and resident items (wheelchair, commode, etc).
    • Maintains adequate supplies such as bathroom tissue, paper towels, and hand soap.
    • Changes room divider curtains and window draperies as needed.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean atmosphere in all public areas, including dining room, dayrooms, break room, public bathrooms, etc.
    • Dusts and wet mops all corridors.
    • Removes trash from all areas.
    • Reports any needed repairs to supervisor.
  • Assist in maintaining high quality floor surfaces.
    • Refinishes hard floor surfaces.
    • Vacuums and extracts carpeted surfaces.
  • Checks supplies and inventory and informs supervisor when low.
  • Inspects and coordinates cleaning in procedures and/or equipment to maintain high standards and safe working conditions.
  • Makes suggestion for changes in procedures and/or equipment to maintain high standards and safe working conditions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

  • Long term care or housekeeping experience preferred.

    The nurses were caring, trusting, and listened to aides. The work load was reasonable and upper management listened to concerns. Insurance was fantastic, and other company benefit programs were impressive. The teenagers that worked there had no idea how good they had it. Calling in was never a problem because we worked as a team and if you were honest, they were compassionate.

    No real cons. Monotonous at times. Some team members were shoddy, and management didn't do much. That's what we get for working in a high-need field I suppose.
