About the Team:
We are looking for someone with exceptional experience in the area of television production, audio/video editing, and/or graphic design to come share their skills with our already amazing and talented team of media professionals!

About the Role:
As our Production Assistant, you will be responsible for our production coverage including government meetings, producing our local newscast, filming and editing community event coverage, and assisting city staff with multi-media projects. The position includes responsibility for managing our social media, graphic, scenic and lighting design, assistance with cablecast programming, and helping community members with equipment checkout and training. Troubleshooting, general equipment maintenance, remote production, and studio production are also included in this position.

Responsibilities

The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive; other duties may be required and assigned.

Production Assistant Responsibilities:
  • Filming.
  • Video editing.
  • Film city meetings.
  • Film community events.
  • Produce local newscast.
  • Social media management.
  • Graphic design.
  • Assist the public with equipment checkouts and training.
  • Assist with cable casting – signal delivery processes.
  • Support city staff with multi-media projects.
  • Knowledge of currently accepted production practices.
  • Plan and prepare for special event recording and broadcast.
  • Equipment set-up and breakdown.
  • On-location production and studio production functions.
  • Technical assistance with troubleshooting of equipment and workflow.
  • Assist community producers with productions.
  • Live streaming support and assist with hybrid streaming operations.

Minimum Qualifications

Supervisory Requirements:

  • None
Education and/or Experience Requirements:
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in audio/video production, graphic design, communications, or a related field is desired.
  • Minimum of two years advanced experience in television production, audio/video editing, graphic design, communications, or a related field. Additional experience may substitute for education on a year for year basis.
  • Experience with audio and video electronics and cameras required.
  • Experience in Final Cut Pro, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office required.
Licenses, Certification, etc.
  • Valid Wisconsin Driver's License must be maintained during entire course of employment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal effectively with the public, elected officials, and other employees.
  • Knowledge of Fitchburg and/or community television is a plus.
  • Understanding of using multi-streaming platforms.
  • Knowledge and experience in broadcast news are a plus.
