First Shift Security Officer

Pay between $14-$18!


  • Patrols and monitors an assigned area; reports suspicious activities to local authorities.
  • Monitors surveillance cameras

  • Fun job, but low wages, difficult management and inflexible scheduling Security Officer

    Most job sites laid back and quiet, occasionally exciting when you get to actually do your job. As long as you put in good effort they will usually be able to accept time off requests pretty easily with sufficient notice.

    This is not an occupation for someone who’d like to make really good money. Average pay ranges from $11.5 to $15 per hour, over time is nice but not nice enough. Also if you need to leave a site for an emergency situation or some other important reasons, it’s not a sure thing that they’ll be able to get someone to cover for you. Sometimes even with several days notice. As for training, it is not at all uncommon for them to get you into a site without proper training for that site. They have a lot of work to do in terms of getting people actually prepared for and situations if they were to arise. And managerial/supervisor positions are known to work employees to exhaustion. Some weeks are at least 70+ hours, depending on the week. Management will also tell you that you’ll receive a better position/job location, such as moving from unarmed to armed guard, and then you’ll wait for 5 months without getting any closer to your goal. Mind you, this happens to people who get to all shifts on time, every time.
