Job Summary

The position is a growth series (Grade Level 25 – 27) typically posted at the lowest level. The title, grade level and incentive target assigned to the successful candidate will be determined based upon the skills and relevant experience of the candidate learned through the interview process.


Job Responsibilities

Perform electrical insulation testing of substation equipment for routine, diagnostic, and troubleshooting
purposes. Review and analyze test results and provide recommendations. Perform SF-6 Gas quality testing.
Perform ground Resistance testing.

Manage the thermovision inspection program. Review Substation Maintenance Inspection
tickets.
Verify and accept oil deliveries for substation equipment and oil-o-static transmission cables. Perform factory
and Equipment inspections.

Coordinate collection of data for gas in oil and trouble reports and make recommendations to adjust
maintenance programs.

Evaluate new testing equipment and on line monitoring systems. Investigate equipment failures and
make recommendations.

Provide engineering and technical support to districts for ordering parts and manufacturer contact.

Provide procedures for the maintenance and repair of substation equipment.


Prepare specifications for purchase or repair of equipment. Review and modify equipment procurement
specifications.

Identify spare parts for equipment and prepare SMA’s. Maintain inventory of material and equipment.

Have spare equipment meetings and make recommendations.

Perform review and evaluations of M&S materials.
Write Project Justification Documents to justify Project Funding.

Maintain equipment databases. Participate in Equipment Committees and attend conferences outside the company.

Attend advance training courses such for Equipment, Grounding, and Safety.

Support the NERC NPCC Compliance requirements for the Substation Maintenance field organization,
including the collection and documentation of data and participation in Audit preparation and audit reviews.

Familiarization with the NERC standards to support the development of field procedures for testing and data
collection, and responding to evolving changes in the language of the standards to stay in compliance.
Support the SF6 gas annual environmental reporting requirements and assist in the documentation of inventory
and preparation of reports.
Perform storm restoration duties

Job Specific Qualifications

Required:
B.S. in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
0-2 years of relevant experience
Strong computer skills in working in MS Suite including Word, Excel, Access.
Must be willing to work OT as required and perform on-call/emergency support as needed.

Desired:
Knowledge of the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), National Electrical Code (NEC) and other
related guidelines related to electric transmission system engineering, design and operation.
Familiarity with Occupational Safety Health Act (OSHA) guidelines
