Job Summary

Our nonprofit is seeking FUN, CONFIDENT, OUTGOINGand HIGH ENERGY leaders to facilitate age-based social groups for kids ages 4-11 during school recess, in after-school programs and in our summer camp. Connect Us facilitators guide diverse groups of kids {of all abilities and backgrounds} through physical and collaborative activities, helping them build self-confidence, resiliency, problem-solving skills and teamwork.

The facilitator's role is to model and instill social and emotional skills while kids are engaged in group play experiences. It is through play that we're best able to reach kids and impact their development and well-being.

This part-time position is ideal for college students pursuing a career in a child-service profession. If you enjoy playing sports, being outdoors and have a passion for bringing out the best in kids, you'll find this job extremely fun and rewarding, where your efforts will have direct and immediate results.

*NOTE:If you're seeking MORE than 20 hours per week, this is NOTthe position for you.


  • Flexible schedule to accommodate students, ranging from 10-20 hours per week, 3-5 days per week
  • School-year hours: Mon - Fri, 10:00am - 1:00pm and 3:00pm - 5:00pm / Summer hours: Tue- Fri 8:00am - 1:00pm
  • All programs take place outdoors in Denver metro area elementary schools and parks, weather permitting
  • Hiring immediately

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Create and execute lesson plans for small social groups, that focus on integrating kids with and without developmental delays and behavior issues
  • Facilitate structured, physical and creative activities in after-school social groups, camps and recess programs
  • Foster an open, accepting environment where differences are valued and kids are safe to be themselves
  • Set limits, enforce rules and provide consistent feedback, positive reinforcement and social and emotional coaching
  • Collaborate with co-facilitators
  • Maintain accurate program records and complete data on participants and program results
  • Attend professional trainings
  • Assist in tasks for other areas of the nonprofit
  • Reliable transportation to work in multiple schools (all within 5 mile radius)

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Friendly, self-confident, positive, approachable, enjoys playing games with kids, easily communicates and connects with adults and youth - regardless of background or abilities (including kids with mild disabilities and those experiencing poverty and homelessness)
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience working with children (i.e., athletic coach, mentor, teacher, child care, camp counselor, lifeguard, etc.)
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Physically able to lead groups and participate in games that require running, such as tag, kickball, soccer, etc.
  • Maintains a high standard for self, learns quickly, gives 100% to endeavors
  • Values feedback and takes direction well
  • Organized, efficient, independent and able to quickly adapt to changes in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications and Skills (not required)

  • Completed or pursuing a degree in a child-related field (social work, psychology, therapy, teaching, etc.)
  • Experience coaching or playing team sports
