Overall Purpose: The Member of Technical Staff discipline is part of a technical career program designed for employees who are working on new and emerging technologies AND who have made a significant commitment to their education by earning at least a 4-year degree in specified STEM areas. Employees must meet specific educational and experience requirements to move into and within these disciplines. Exceptions require Board Review. Refer to the Technical Career Pathway (TCP) SharePoint for approved universities and degree disciplines. Before an employee can be considered for one of these disciplines, the work must be evaluated and approved for use by Corporate Compensation via the Job Evaluation process. Applies advanced engineering and scientific knowledge to architecture, design and development work in a Research and Development environment for high-value technology and solutions tied to the strategic direction of the company.

Key Roles and Responsibilities: Conducts design and development work in the areas of new products/technologies, systems/platform architecture, hardware/software development engineering, technical security, and QA Design/Certification. Work must primarily involve new and emerging technologies and technical architectures on projects with a status between inception and implementation/software maturity. May serve as subject matter expert during the continuous integration/continuous deployment cycle in a production environment focused on complex design, engineering, and development.

The role includes but is not limited to: Security architecture planning and/or diagram review and creation; Development of Governance, Risk, and Compliance using ServiceNow; Ability to apply industry framework(s) for audits and managing vendors that are conducting 3rd party assessments; A deep understanding of Cloud and AT&T’s strategic vision for cloud and stands as a security advocate while driving our overall corporate missions forward. In addition to this work, the position does research regarding new cloud technologies and architecture in order to keep him/herself and the team ahead of new trends. S/he may be required to participate in adhoc presentations or create formal presentations on our security posture (specifically as it relates to cloud and his/her responsibilities).

Experience: PhD in an approved field from an approved university with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience or Masters in an approved field from an approved university with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience or a Bachelors in an approved field from an approved university with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.

Required Qualifications -
  • Entry into this title will require Technical Title Plan (TTP) Board Approval.
  • Candidate shall have a PhD in an approved field from an accredited university and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree in an approved field from an accredited university and a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor's degree in an approved field from an accredited university and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience
  • Five or more years experience with networks, network protocols, and IP networks and at least seven years of experience with web development using PHP, Perl, Action script and Java programming through all phases of the software development lifecycle
  • A strong understanding of security technology in the areas of VPN, firewalls, proxy, and IDS/IPS as well as experience in Linux, Solaris and Windows
  • Candidate must have a strong communication skills both verbally and written as well as strong problem solving skills
  • Ability to balance and prioritize work and work independently and as part of a team
  • Previous experience as a system tester and experience in a lab test environment
Desired Qualifications -
  • CISSP, CCNA certification, or GIAC Certified Intrusion Analyst (GCIA)
  • Experience with any/all of following software tools: PHP, Perl, Action Script, Java, JavaScript, Linux, XML, CVS/SVN, Linux Shell Scripts, and Oracle
  • Check Point VSX experience
  • Crossbeam, Fortinet and Cisco configuration experience
  • TS/SCI Government Clearance
  • Network and Hardware support experience as well as database design
  • ISP Services Planning and Architecture
  • ICDS Service Planning and Architecture
  • ISP level data networks experience
  • Hands-on experience with performance and security test gear
  • Understanding of Internet security threats and mitigation techniques
